my bucket list

At a farewell lunch for a colleague lately, we somehow stumbled upon the topic of how we would prefer to go: Between a prolonged battle with a terminal disease and dying suddenly in a car accident, which one will you choose?

Those who choose the latter, we concluded, are the selfish ones. They just want to go off happily without any pain. On the other hand, it may not be a good idea to stick around too long in a dying state, lest your friends visit you two years after your diagnosis with cancer and wonder: 还没有死 ah?

But of course, even before we get to dying, each of us has that list of things we absolutely must do. No i'm not talking about the list of chores and homework awaiting your attention, but rather, the list that, once completed, will ensure, hopefully, that you die without regrets - better known as the bucket list, thanks to Jack Nicholson and i-dunno-what-his-name-is (pardon my ignorance).

So, having reached 22 years of age and approaching the quarter-life crisis point, i thought it would be timely to make one and share with my dear family and friends.

Before i die, i want to:
1. Be crowned Miss Gorgeous 2008, 2009, 2010...you get the idea. haha.
2. Visit France, walking down the streets of Champs E'lysee while singing to the song of the same title, sipping wine in the provence countryside pretending to be a wine connoisseur.
3. Go skiing, ride on reindeer-pulled sleighs, surfing, sand-tobogganing, paragliding, and skydiving (i'm developing a taste for all things extreme. as i've said, it's the quarter-life crisis).
3. Backpack around Europe for a year, not caring about money and, through milking cows or working as a receptionist or whatever comes, just earning however much it takes to get me to the next place.
4. Tell my dearest family and friends that i love you! (and if i'm really dying, where are those advance birthday presents!?)
5. Last but not least, if ever you don't rush to my deathbed in time to hear my last words, this will be it: Jesus loves you! :)

Now that i've made my bucket list, if i have a choice as to how i die, i will choose the slow death. Never mind that my hair would have all dropped out, my skin a sallow tone, my face a horrendous sight. I would rather have the chance to hear how much i would be missed. haha.
