I had just happily settled down in the cinema seats with Jas when my phone started ringing.
It was a friend from CS, who happened to be in the very same theatre. Not that surprising under normal circumstances since Singapore is so small, but the theatre happened to have been booked by my paper.
I asked him: "Eh how did you get your tickets?"
C: "Oh my girlfriend won the contest in my paper. And how did you get the ticket?"
Me: "I got it from the company lo."
C: "Wah lao staff can also get free tickets?"
Me: "Of course, it's MY paper."
hahaha. i never loved the name more.
Anyhow, the movie (called Get Smart, in case you haven't figured out from the title of this post) is simply hilarious.
Go watch it if you're smart :)

i write the songs that make the whole world sing
I have possibly discovered the bestest cafe in Singapore.
Tucked into a little corner in Gardenia Road in Upper Thomson, this Little Part One Cafe is - quoting my colleague - "the cafe everyone dreams of opening".
Staffed by a young girl who multi-tasks as the cook, waiter cum cashier who had actually looked surprised to see us, the quaint place offers fabulicious western-style food (think fish and chips or crepes) at very reasonable prices of slightly over 10 bucks.
It is cosily decorated with fresh flowers on every table, and a little bookshelf at the side provides books for the bored. The best part of all - they play catchy oldies that does wonders for the ageing soul, like mine.
And the bestest part of it all - they don't charge GST.
Now, when will Part Two come along?

parting's such sweet sorrow
I started my countdown as early as six weeks ago.
It was agonisingly slow initially; week by week, the number just seemed to take so long to come down.
And now that there is really only one week left, i find myself hoping that time can reverse itself.
It's strange - things seem to get more fun when you're about to leave.
There's only one more week of pitching ideas, rushing out stories, dealing with newsmakers, drinking oreo choc bubble tea, talking about kung fu pandas, and kneeling at each other's table.
It's been six months. There have been stressful moments and sweet memories, and it's all the sadder knowing that things won't be the same even if i come back here to work in future. because the same people won't be here anymore.
Six months ago, i was crying my eyes out cos i didn't want to come to my paper. Now, i just can't stop smiling.
Thank you God, You always know what's best for me :)
