I met the man who has striked both fear and respect in the hearts of so many people -- MM Lee Kuan Yew himself, who came to NTU for a ministerial forum.
The forum was disappointingly dominated by foreigners, and Mr Lee addressed international issues instead of local ones, which made it desperately hard for the Chronicle to write anything.
But it was still very much an eye-opener to see how someone who only had training in law as a student has gained so much knowledge in international affairs and the economy, and is still keeping himself in touch with world issues at such an old age. It just proves that there will still be so much more for me to learn even after graduation.
Mr Lee kept many of us laughing with his responses during the Q&A session, charming many in the audience, including yours truly. He also digressed and didn't answer many of the questions given. Perhaps the greatest lesson i took away from the forum was that he is after all just like you and me -- a human complete with foibles.
