Courageous me went to ask one of the station staff. She said because they are servicing the track, the train would not go straight to Robina (which was the train we had been waiting for) and would instead go to Yeerongpilly. So we missed the train at 8:45 because we had been looking for a train to Robina!
The train to Yeerongpilly finally arrived at 9:15pm. It dropped us off at the Yeerongpilly station (duh..haha) and we caught free shuttle buses from there which went to Robina. My roommate, Andrea, and her friends had taken the same train as us, so we were all on the same bus :) Here's a shot that she took of us.

We arrived at Robina station at 10:30pm, much later than the 9:37pm time that we were supposed to arrive at. And we went to check the bus schedule for the next bus which would take us back to Bond. And horror of horrors! The last bus was at 9:47pm!
There was only two options left: call for a cab or walk to the Robina Town Centre to see whether there was any bus there. A few of Andrea’s friends left for the cab, but the rest of us decided to walk to the Town Centre.

And nope, there was no bus left at Town Centre too. So we figured that we should try walking to Bond, which is usually about 20 minutes bus ride from Robina Town Centre anyway.
That didn't work very well. All of us have are in our first semester in Bond, and have barely been here for 2 or 3 weeks. So we didn't really know the roads well. We took the wrong way, turned back, saw a Mobil station and decided to ask for directions. And they said it was an hour's walk to Bond Uni!
None of us were really the sort to take long walks in the middle of the night. haha. So we decided to call a cab. And we waited. And waited. Rain came and went but there was still no taxi in sight. Here's a picture of all of us who were stranded there, and playing charades.

Finally, after an hour or so of waiting, at 12 plus, a taxi came but, the taxi driver didn't know the way to Bond University. We were wondering if he was really a taxi driver, or just someone who had bound and taped the real taxi driver somewhere and stolen the taxi, because how can anyone drive in Robina (a really small town) and not know the way to Bond Uni???
On the way back, Andrea asked him how long he has been driving.
"For a long time," he said. "It's just that my memory isn't very good."
"That's why I'm a taxi driver, and not a doctor."
haha maybe he shouldn't be a taxi driver too!
Although we had to remind him to keep on the left side of the road and everything, we got back to Bond in one piece near 1am.
Yeah it was definitely a memorable Australia Day and an experience of a lifetime! haha. Really thank God that the taxi driver wasn't some psycho and that we managed to direct him to Bond even though we were all new students..haha. Here's pictures of us in the taxi:
